Coming here

We’ve come a long way over years of roads
to reach this place where we, together, live.
We both have carried heavy, painful loads,
but here the past we cherish, release, forgive.
We did the things we thought we had to do
for those who looked to us for shelter, bread,
and love. We hid from them the holes we knew—
the lies, the barren eyes, the empty bed.
In our new time and place our souls are filled
with depth and life, with truth and passion’s fire,
with pure and primal bonds divinely willed.
In us, we find no more unmet desires.
Our spirits, bodies, bones, and blood we bond
to us—in this and all the years beyond.
